Are you a victim of Bullying? EEK.....

In our world we have been made well aware of bullying. Is it something new? Absolutely not.

My question for you is does it happen in our "Christian culture, in our Churches, in our Christian communities"? Absolutely. Now that is a sad, sad day!

This past week in our BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) notes there was a statement that shook me to my core.  It said, "To hurt one Christian is to hurt Jesus himself." Wow.  Do you remember the little song we sang as children, "Oh be careful little tongue what you say?" How many people do you know take a little bit of truth and use it against someone for their own gratification? Oh I think we have all witnessed that and sometimes its so vicious and it hurts so badly.

For years, I lived with physical and emotional abuse.  My self esteem was destroyed and it has taken time slowly to rebuild.  It takes one person and one harsh word to cripple me and bring me down and it's even worse when the person knows me well and still does it to me.  That my friends is bullying! I have found myself spending days at home, rather than spending joyfilled days doing what I love, because of taking a risk of running into people that would send me into full panic mode because of the mean things one person has said or done. That is bullying at its worse.

1 Peter 2:17 says "Respect everyone, and love the family of believers.
Fear God, and respect the king."

1 Corinthians 14:33 says: "For God is not a God of disorder but of peace,
as in all the meetings of God's holy people."

So this past Sunday our Pastor preached a wonderful sermon on stumbling blocks.  It was unlike any I had heard before and it really made me think.  He said, "Every person needs to understand somebody is watching you! Everybody is listening to what you say! They know you have professed that Jesus is Lord!" So How do you handle things differently than the world handles things?  If you are talking about someone, keeping someone from being their better self, whatever the case may be; all because of your insecurities, control issues, etc. Remember if you are professing to be a Christian Someone is watching you.

Proverbs 21:8 says "The guilty walk a crooked path; the innocent travel a straight road."

I, for one, my friends am choosing that freedom that Christ gives of walking in peace. I'm shaking the bullying off my back.  No more!

Philippians 4:7 "Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."
