2020 -- What Lessons Has it Taught Me?
I've heard everyone say, let's get this year out! Good riddance. It's been a horrible year, and on that I agree, it has been challenging. If you live in the greater Nashville area, its even been more than Covid. The great tornado blew in in March, then Covid-19 and the year ended with a Bomb downtown.
There has been good this year. Have you taken time to look for the good along with so much bad? Oh, I am not making light of the lives lost to Covid, tornadoes, hurricanes, etc. That has been devastating. Along with other illness that just goes along with life we have to endure. Let's look for the good that we would not have seen. Families have learned to be families again. Has your family had a regular dinner again together? If you have children still at home, have you had time to ride bikes, play in the yard, spend time with them that you normally wouldn't have had time for? That is what I am talking about. We have got back to some basics of family time.
On the other hand, at the beginning of the year, we all had to not attend church for a while. Personally for me that was a sobering attention getter! I never thought in my lifetime I would not be able to attend church in person. I just knew that once we could go back that the pews would be full, but much to my surprise they weren't! I heard so many complaints about wearing masks, and that people didn't want to wear a mask to church etc. That made me pause and think, If Christ could die on the Cross for me, surely I could wear a mask to go and worship for Him! That is the least I could do in this World!
Yes, 2020 has been a year I never thought I would experience in my 56 years! I have lived with a Cerebral Venus Thrombosis, A pseudo tumor, much of December with a throbbing headache, and not wanting and definitely not needing Covid with a blood clot but through it all God has richly Blessed me.
Yes, we all experience hurt and pain from all direction. I agree, sometimes life is not easy. Life was never promise to be easy. But keep your chin up, we have made it through a very trying year. One unlike we have probably never seen. We do not know what the future holds, however, we do know who holds the future!
I will close with the scripture that is my favorite and keeps me going.
"I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."Philippians 3:14"
I pray you are "Pressing On" Happy New Year!
