What Kind of Impact are You Making?
Well, by now we are well into the throws of 2020. Whew, what a year! I don't know where you are, where you live, what you have dealt with this year, but for many it has been a struggle.
Life as we know it has totally changed. Some say for the better, in the sense that we have slowed down, got to know our families better and spent more quality time. More importantly we have hopefully spent more time in the Word and quiet time with our Lord. Then some are having a hard time handling the isolation, etc.
For me, I am a social person! I like being at home but then I miss people, PERIOD! I have missed speaking and encouraging women in their walk, I have missed weekly Bible studies with my friends. I have missed going to lunch with friends. It's just so much you take for granted until that is taken away.
Then I think about the people who have been so ill. I have had friends who have been near death with COVID. Spent many, many days in the hospital and I have had friends die from COVID. I have friends have COVID and survive. People, this is real. It isn't anything we should take lightly. So while I miss activities, I know that God will fulfill my need to socialize and sustain me with other thoughts and longings.
And that makes me always fall back to one of my favorite verses "And my God will supply all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:9
So in light of this world, think about your impact on people. You are always making some kind of impact.
You never know how much someone needed the smile you gave them. You never know how much your kindness turned someone's entire life around. You never know how much someone needed that long hug or deep talk. So don't wait to be kind. Don't wait for someone to be kind first. Don't wait for better circumstances or someone to change. Just be kind, because you never know how much someone needs it.
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control." Galatians 5:22
