Pondering . . . Hope
Today I have been thinking...pondering of sorts. What do people Hope for? What does Hope mean to people?
Webster says: a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.
But in the Biblical sense Bible hope is the confident expectation of what God has promised and its strength is in His faithfulness.
Now I don't know about you, but I just want to testify here a little bit. I was very young when I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior at age 5. I had no doubts because all I had ever known was church and the Bible. I knew who my Lord and Savior was and what He meant to me.
However it was when I was older that I began to realize that He was my Hope, He was Faithful! It was in times of my life when I was made to feel that I was not enough, broken, shattered, that I couldn't breathe, that I was unlovable . . . I knew that without a doubt the world would keep turning and I could get up the next morning because My Hope was Christ and that He was Faithful! You see I was many times like Peter, sinking in the sea and all I would have to do is reach out my hand and say, Lord Save Me, and He was right there!
Do you have that kind of Hope? Or do you have a Wish kind of Hope?
Our choir is singing a song Sunday morning. The title of the song is "The Reason for Your Hope" Call it divine intervention or whatever you want, I simply call it the Holy Spirit. This is my song! It resonates with my soul. Here are a few of the words:
"This world needs the story of a love that came to save,
that touched and healed the broken and left their hearts amazed.
And if you've ever wondered how far His love would go,
He's waiting here to give you
The reason for your hope, the reason you can breathe,
that He would cross the world,
to love humanite.
When the glory of His grace reached into your soul,
the Lamb of God became the reason for your hope."
