Grateful and Thankful -- Most Wonderful Time of the Year
My favorite time of of the year! Thanksgiving. Why can't it be that way all year? This month it makes me more aware of the things I am the most thankful for in my life and there are just not enough words or enough space to adequately express it all. "Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!" Psalm 106:1
When I think of Thanksgiving, I can't help but consider first and foremost what Christ gave for me. Now that is something to be Thankful for! It truly brings me to my knees. Heart wrenching gratitude for someone giving their life for ME!! "Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Ephesians 5:20
Then I think about my parents, as I am older I realize how much they sacrificed for me to be the person I am now. They made sure that I was grounded in the Word and that I had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and that has helped me through life situations that I would have never made it though without that grounding. They taught me so many valuable lessons in life but they loved me unconditionally. I was blessed.
Two little boys, Tyler and Jordan, now grown men, I am so thankful for. They have grown me and we have learned many lessons together and will always learn as we live. I am one person in their life that will love them unconditionally and be proud of them their whole life. I can't say life was a story book, but whose life is, but God has seen us through and will continue to guide. They have also brought me two bonus daughters, Lauren and Megan (daughter-in-laws) and one beautiful granddaughter, Rylan. I am blessed! "Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!" Psalm 107:1
Charlie, well, what can I say. Thankful, grateful, proud. God knew what my life needed. Healing, peace, love, kindness, and encouragement, lots of encouragement. See, I needed to learn to be myself again and have the courage to find myself again and Charlie was the person to help do that. I never thought it possible after 20 years but God knew and I will be forever humbled and thankful. Along with Charlie came Caleb, Tricia, Jessica, Daniel, Amanda and Mac. Then came along the grandchildren that have been such a highlight Abby, Joshua, Ella and Lucas. They all have loved me unconditionally as well and I love them unconditionally. Again, my friends, I am blessed beyond measure!
So this month when I say I am thankful it goes so deep. I'm alive, when I have lived in fear for my lif; I have a roof over my head but there was a time when I wasn't sure what might happen; I'm safe and can sleep in peace when many nights I slept in fear if I slept; I eat, most of the time too much, when there were times I was too stressed to get food down; but most of all my whole life I'm thankful that My God has walked with me through it All!
"Give thanks IN all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." 1 Thessalonians 5:18
